A police officer shot and killed a woman Saturday in Gastonia after they say she shot at an officer.
According to police, the shooting happened around 1:20 pm. Police say two officers responded to a domestic dispute call at a home on South King Street. When they arrived, the woman met them with “several guns on her.”

Witnesses at the scene said they heard officers tell the woman to drop the weapons, and then she shot at the officers.
The woman was killed when the officer returned fire. One officer was shot multiple times in the leg during the shooting.
EMS took the officer to the hospital. He is expected to be okay. The North Carolina SBI is investigating the shooting, as is standard for all officer-involved shootings.
