Two men charged with murder after alleged Wilson assault

Wilson police arrested two men suspected of a fatal assault in late July.

Jerry Lee Parker, 28, of Wilson, and Kenson Donte Carr, 28, of Wilson, are charged with murder. Parker is also charged with an attempted robbery.

Parker and Carr are both also charged with multiple narcotics violations.

Authorities are holding Parker and Carr on no bond.

Around 3:08 a.m. on July 28, Wilson police responded to a call of an unconscious person on Wainwright Avenue near Hadley Street. Police found Vanzell Bynum on the ground. Officers spoke with witnesses, who said he might have been assaulted.

Authorities took Bynum to the Wilson Medical Center. Police said he died of his injuries on Friday. Bynum was 33.
