Multiple cars crashed Friday night along Interstate 87 near Wendell Falls Parkway in Knightdale as the Triangle saw its first snow accumulation in nearly three years.
The State Highway Patrol (SHP) closed down I-87 where the crash happened. Several cars had damage and drove off the interstate. The SHP said nine vehicles were involved.

Troopers were working to clear the damage and working to reopen the interstate.
Minor injuries were reported.
WRAL News spoke with one woman involved in the crash. She was doing OK physically, but she said it was scary.
"I just saw a lot of cars stopped, all crashed," she said. "That's all I can remember because it was one second ... and it was scary to go through this.
"I'm still in shock."
The woman said she recommended drivers stay off the roads with the snow coming down.
Troopers detoured cars off to U.S. 64 Business, which is also known as Knightdale Boulevard.
Friday marked the Triangle's first measurable snow since Jan. 29, 2022.
