Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board votes to eliminate 19 positions
To save nearly millions in the face of declining enrollment and funding shortages, the school board voted last night to cut 19 positions for the upcoming school year
The Chapel Hill-Carborough School Board approved more than 12 job
cuts during a work session last night
The board voted to slash 19 positions for the upcoming
school year
Superintendent Rodney Trice initially proposed 22 staff reductions including several
mental health specialists
The cuts are expected to save the district nearly $2
million as it faces a decline in enrollment and funding
shortages
Trice says employees affected by the cuts may be placed
in other district roles
