Grand opening events at Gipson Play Plaza have resumed Saturday after earlier reports of lightning in the area.
In a post on Dix Park social media, officials said the events will resume until closing Saturday at 10 p.m.

The 18.5-acre playground at Dix Park officially opened to the public Friday. Many families were there to take full advantage of the park and its opportunities.
“This is awesome. It's great to have it so close to downtown, and it's nice to see the city investing in places for the whole community to come together,” one person told WRAL.
