The Raleigh St. Patrick’s Day Parade -- a free, family-focused celebration of Irish culture -- marched Saturday from downtown Raleigh, featuring song and dance and plenty craic.
Families lined Hillsborough Street and Glenwood Avenue to cheer on the bands, dance troupes and costumed marchers in the annual parade.

The parade has been a Raleigh tradition since 1983, when a small group of Irish-Americans first marched down Wilmington Street.
Aer Lingus is sponsoring this year's parade. The airline offers nonstop flights from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Dublin.
