If you are 18 years or older with a Level 2 Limited Provisional License, you can now get your Class C driver's license online at the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles Website.
Before the change, anyone 18 years or older with a Level 2 Limited Provisional License was required to make an appointment at a driver's licenses office to complete the sign recognition and vision test.

Now, this testing is offered online as long as you meet the age requirement.
If someone is under the age of 18, they are still required to make an appointment and take the necessary tests in person.
"This online upgrade is a practical step forward in making DMV services more convenient and efficient for North Carolinians," said NCDMV Commissioner Paul Tine.
"We've heard from customers who want simpler ways to handle routine transactions, and this change removes a long-standing hurdle for young adults who've already proven they can drive safely. It frees up our staff to focus on higher-priority needs while giving eligible customers the flexibility to complete the process from home – another win in our commitment to better customer service and modernized operations."
