3 people arrested, accused of trying to steal 27 car batteries from Walmart in Apex

Apex police on Wednesday arrested three people accused of trying to steal 27 car batteries from Walmart.

Police arrested Ivan Osvaldo Rodriguez, Briana Smith and Angela Smith. They did not say whether the two Smiths are related.

Angela Smith, 53, and Briana Smith, 30, are each charged with felony conspiracy and felony removing, destroying or deactivating a component of an anti-shoplifting or inventory control device to prevent its activation during larceny.

Rodriguez, 33, is charged with felony conspiracy. He was due in court on Thursday afternoon.
