Three people died, and one person was injured after a crash in Robeson County.

State Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 3:38 a.m. on Saturday along I-95 North near mile marker 5.

Troopers said a man was driving a 2024 Mazda SUV south in the northbound lanes of I-95 when he hit a 2023 Hyundai SUV head-on, causing it to run off the roadway and catch on fire.

The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. His current condition is still unknown.

The driver of the Hyundai was also taken to the hospital, where she later died. Troopers said there were two passengers inside the SUV, including a 7-year-old girl, who also died from the crash.

Troopers said speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash. The cause is still under investigation.
