ATF, Wake County deputies investigating explosion that started house fire near Wendell

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating a house fire caused by an explosion near Wendell.

According to deputies, the explosion happened around 9:50 a.m. in the 7200 block of Old Bunch Road near Doc Procter Road.

No one appeared to be injured, according to deputies, and the Wendell Fire Department and Hopkins Fire Department put out the fire.

The Wake County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are also investigating.
