911 calls provide new insight into the moments that immediately followed a boat crash at Harris Lake that left a 10-year-old dead and a woman critically injured.

On Friday, Chatham County Emergency Communications said they received multiple 911 calls from people calling for help.

“Hold on, people are coming in on a boat screaming, ‘Help! Help! Help!’ and I’m just calling because I don’t know what’s going on,” one person said on a call.

“Well, they might’ve already called, we’re at the Crosspoint boat ramp and — ok — the fire department is already showing up, a boat just showed up, they were calling for help,” another person told 911.

More calls described the fear and panic as witnesses waited for help to arrive. 

A couple, Quinten Kight and Annemarie Flanigan, were both indicted on second-degree murder charges related to the crash.
