Capital Boulevard in Wake Forest reopened after strong winds caused downed power lines

All lanes of Capital Boulevard have reopened after downed power lines caused a portion of the road to close.

On Monday, Wake Forest officials sent an alert just before 10:30 p.m. saying both directions of Capital Boulevard near Burlington Mills Road were closed.

Officials said strong winds caused the utility poles to lean and the power lines to sag. 

As of 11:50 p.m., just less than 100 customers were still without power. Duke Energy's outage map shows restoration is expected by 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
