An Orange County sex offender has been arrested for another case of a crime against a child.
Edwin Silva-Badillo was on probation after his guilty plea in Alamance County for a 2022 offense, and he now faces similar charges.

In 2022, he was charged with two counts of a sex offense with a child and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. In that case, Silva-Badillo pleaded guilty to indecent liberties with a child, and he was given probation and a suspended sentence. He also had to register as a sex offender.
Silva-Badillo violated his probation in September of 2024 after resisting arrest for being intoxicated, according to court documents. He pleaded guilty in that case in Orange County.
In recent months, he's been arrested for more sex crimes against children.
According to a search warrant for his Carrboro apartment, he began communicating with the 13 year-old victim on Instagram.
It says he picked this victim up in Siler City and took her to his apartment in Carrboro three separate times between late March and mid-April.
The victim told investigators she had smoked marijuana and drank a Twisted Tea with him, and her phone had photos of them together.
The warrant says the Geotag recorded in the photos put them in his apartment.
In total in Orange and Chatham counties, Silva-Badillo is charged with three counts of kidnapping, three counts of human trafficking, four counts of statuary rape of a child, three counts of indecent liberties, and two counts of soliciting by a computer.
He is currently in the Chatham County jail under no bond.
