A military helicopter had to make a precautionary landing Tuesday night in Open Grounds Farm in Carteret County, according to Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck.

The pilots noticed a warning light in the cockpit and landed to check it out, according to a Marines spokesman.

Capt. Jacob R. Ballard said, "Upon subsequent inspection and troubleshooting on the ground, the aircrew determined that warning light indication had been made by a faulty sensor and that the aircraft was safe to return to flight."

The sheriff says when he got on scene, the helicopter was fixed and took back off again.

The helicopter returned safely to Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville.
