A man arrested after a barricade and standoff situation at a west Cary apartment faces charges of violating a restraining order and communicating threats, among others.
Aaron Wendel, 40, of Cary, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, according to Cary police. The response began around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night, when police officers said they attempted to reach a person barricaded inside an apartment on Wisdom Drive, near Green Level Church Road.

Wendel was charged with a Holly Springs warrant with communicating threats. He was also charged with violating a restraining order and inhaling toxic vapors.
Additionally, Cary police charged him with felony assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting a public officer.
Wendel was taken to the Wake County Detention Center, according to Cary police.
On Monday, Wendel appeared in court remotely. The judge gave him no bond. His next court date is March 16 at 9 a.m.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was at the scene late Sunday night as Cary police officers broke down the door of the apartment. Video shows SWAT officers using a battering ram to get inside the apartment, and police can be heard using a megaphone to talk to the suspect.
A neighbor captured a photo of the arrest.
