Extra security will be at Cary High School on Friday after a shooting injured a 15-year-old.
A 17-year-old is in custody, according to Cary police, who said the teenagers are not Wake County students.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to an active shooter situation in the 600 block of Walnut Street, placing four schools in a lockdown.
"All of a sudden, my son called me screaming, "Mom! there's been a shooting!" Cary High School parent Norma Reaves said. "People started running, trying to get back on school property because they didn't know where to go. They were waiting for their parents."
East Cary Magnet Middle School, Adams Elementary, Cary Elementary and Cary High School went into a code yellow lockdown due to “police activity” in the area. Police said none of the schools are involved in the shooting, and the lockdowns have since been lifted.
The extra security at Cary High School on Friday is only a precaution, the school said.
Officers believe the initial scene occurred in the roadway between Cary Town Boulevard and Walnut Street.
Sky 5 was over the scene Thursday afternoon while officers were investigating. Police were seen walking and parked behind the Cary Village Square shopping center at the corner of Walnut Street and SE Maynard Road.
Police said a 15-year-old was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
"It was very quick; very rapid succession," said Darian Turner, who witnessed the shooting. "It was like six shots [and] we saw him on the floor, shot."
In video shared with WRAL News, several gunshots can be heard.
Judy Crippen was waiting to pick up her grandson and his friends in the Dairy Queen parking lot on Walnut Street after Cary High School released at 2:30 p.m. She said she heard the gunshots ring out nearby.
"I saw many students over by the Penn Station sub shop scatter," Crippen described. "My grandson and his friends said there had been kids fighting in the middle of Walnut Street."
Police said there is no active threat to the public. At least two weapons were seized from the 17-year-old suspect.
Police said the victim and the suspect knew each other. Because of their age, police did not release the name of either teen.
While neither teen has been identified, Cary High School principal Nolan Bryant told parents in an email that neither of the teens were students in the Wake County Public School System.
During a code yellow lockdown, all students return to and remain inside the building. Activities inside the school continue as normal.
"The community has nothing to really be afraid of at this point," Cary Police Chief Terry Sult said in a 3:30 p.m. briefing. "We have the scene contained and the areas that we need to search for evidence [blocked] off."
Police said Walnut Street from Maynard Road to Cary Towne Boulevard would remain closed through the evening commute as police continue investigating the scene.
