Terrifying moments were caught on camera Tuesday afternoon when gunfire erupted in a quiet Johnston County neighborhood.
Neighbors on Tast Drive, located off Wendell Road, said more than 20 shots could be heard in the middle of the day and saw a maroon SUV speeding away.

No one was injured, but police are looking for two young men seen in the SUV.
Residents in the neighborhood told WRAL News they were shaken up. Taylor Boone shared surveillance video showing what the gunshots sounded like from inside his home.
Boone said the gunfire was so loud that it startled his dog, which is seen in the video jumping off the couch. More than a dozen shots can be heard in the video.
"It was rapid succession of fire --- bam bam bam," Boone described. "Even my neighbors across the street, and myself too, thought [it could be] fireworks or something. But they saw it happen. [They] confirmed two people were holding guns out the window, shooting into the ditch."
Boone said the shots rang out about 100 feet from his home office where he was working at the time.
"I was sitting here at my desk working from home like I do most weekdays," he said. "I heard 10 to 20 gunshots. [I] stood up and looked out the window and saw a red SUV speeding by my house and out of the neighborhood."
Boone told WRAL News he was concerned because he saw a young family walking in that area.
"Neighbors were just walking around the neighborhood with their toddler," he said. "They walked right by where they were shooting. They were a little alarmed. Definitely a shocking incident."
Boone said he and his neighbors can hear gunshots fired by hunters often, but these shots were fired much too close to homes.
"If you look where these shots were fired, through these woods here, there’s a house," Boone said. Two doors down, if they aimed high, it could have hit their house and hurt someone. We asked the sheriff to go over and do a wellness check to make sure they weren’t hit by a stray bullet or something. [It's] definitely alarming."
The Johnston County Sheriff's Office told WRAL News deputies are looking for the two men that were inside the red SUV.
"I do think they were thankfully aiming at the ground," Boone said. "I don’t know if [they were] testing new guns ... but it's not the smartest thing to do. If they aimed higher through these trees, it could have hit a house for sure."
WRAL News is working to learn whether deputies believe the shooting was targeting anyone or if they've increased patrols in the neighborhood and at the nearby middle school.
