Chapel Hill police are still searching for the person who carjacked a student at gunpoint early Saturday morning.
Around 12:43 a.m., police responded to a carjacking report at the Carolina Square Parking Deck near the intersection of Franklin and Columbia streets. A man stole a student's vehicle at gunpoint and left the area, according to police. The car, a 2017 gray Mercedes CLA 250, was later found in Durham.

The student was not injured, and UNC officials said there was no threat to the community. Investigators are still working to identify a suspect.
On Sunday, students living in the area of Granville Towers student housing told WRAL News they were alarmed to hear what happened.
"Well, I got the Alert Carolina text, and I just told them, 'Dang, that’s so close to where we live,'" said UNC student Libby Parker.
"I didn’t realize that things like this happened here. I think I was just a little taken back," added Lucy Fenisot, another student.
UNC student Ben Bertoldo didn't know about Saturday's carjacking but said he hopes more safety protocols could be implemented.
"That’s terrifying. Especially [because] I don’t see security that often," Bertoldo said. "I don’t see police officers, but more than that, I don’t see UNC security here."
Chapel Hill police are asking everyone to remain vigilant.
Saturday's incident comes after Carrboro police responded to a carjacking under similar circumstances on Wednesday afternoon. In that instance, a man also produced a gun and stole a gold BMW on Roberson Street.
