A Raleigh man who was reported missing days earlier was rescued from a rocky area along the Haw River near Pittsboro on Thursday.
The man, Preston Scott Hill, was picked up from a stretch of rocks along the river around 10:30 a.m.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Raleigh police had been searching for 35-year-old Hill, who was last seen on Sept. 7 driving a 2015 Ford Fusion with California plates.
Sky 5 flew overhead as the man was pulled to safety and loaded onto a helicopter.
The Chatham County Sheriff's Office said Hill was taken to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. His mother told WRAL News he is expected to be okay.
Sky 5 flew over what appeared to be a staging area around 9:45 a.m. Tents were set up, and dozens of first responders were gathered near the river's edge.
Broadcastify radio traffic provided a glimpse at the rescue:
"Apparently the subject is roughly a little more than a mile down a trail possibly impassable ... he is in the middle of the river on the rocks ... it is the Haw River rough section."
"We do have an injury to right lower ankle, multiple abrasions and scrapes, confusion, [we] do have signs of a skull fracture."
Multiple agencies were involved in the rescue, including the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, the North Chatham Fire Department, the Pittsboro Fire Department, Chatham County Emergency Management, North Carolina Emergency Management and the NC HART (Helo-Aquatic Rescue Team).
“Situations like this show the importance of the relationships we have with our local and state emergency response partners,” Chatham County Sheriff Steve Maynor said. “When someone needs help, our agencies work together to bring the resources needed to get that person to safety.”
