A Fayetteville woman faces a bond greater than $100,000 on assault charges after an encounter last month with Cumberland County deputies.
Dorothy Lakay Simpkins, 46, lunged at deputies with a knife, the sheriff's office said, when they responded to a 911 call at a home in the 6700 block of Camden Road.

Deputies were called to the home on Nov. 25 around 6:35 p.m. to investigate a report of domestic violence. Simpkins had a knife, deputies said, and when they asked her to drop it, she lunged toward them.
A deputy shot Simpkins to stop her, and she was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Her arrest occurred on Dec. 10, when she was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a family member and assault on a government official.
She was being held at the Cumberland County jail on $102,500 secured bond.
