A person is dead after getting shot by a Harnett County deputy Wednesday afternoon, according to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office.
The Harnett County Sheriff's Office said the person died in the shooting along Neills Creek Road in Lillington. Authorities are waiting to release the name until the person's family is notified. The State Bureau of Investigation said authorities took the person shot to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh.

As of Wednesday night, the sheriff's office isn't naming the deputy who shot the person either.
According to the SBI, deputies responded to a 911 call at the home.
The SBI was on the scene Wednesday to investigate. The SBI will present its findings to the Harnett County District Attorney.
Olivia Wakefield lives near the scene. She said she heard the shooting between 1:40 p.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday.
"I just heard a loud bang," Wakefield said.
Wakefield said she then heard sirens and saw police cars. She said someone was taken away in an ambulance.
"It's concerning," she said. "I hope everybody is OK."
Wakefield said she lives in a safe neighborhood. For hours, neighbors couldn't return home while law enforcement responded to the scene.
