A state employee faces 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in government funds, according to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
According to the press release, 24-year-old Deshaune White used his position and privileges as an N.C. Department of Social Services case worker to access the accounts of people receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

It is estimated that he stole $102,000 in those funds for his own personal use.
After pleading guilty to theft of government property, White faces a maximum sentence of 10 years, a $250,000 fine and a Forfeiture Money Judgment of $102,000 when he is to be sentenced later this year.
