Nearly 40 firefighters respond to structure fire in Durham

Durham fire fighters responded to a structure fire at the Hampton Crossing apartments Sunday evening.

Sunday night Durham Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of East Pilot Street.

Heavy smoke was visible and coming from the second floor of the apartment building. Durham fire confirmed that the fire was caused by unattended food and was contained within 10 minutes.

Around 40 firefighters responded to the call and Durham Fire was assisted by Durham EMS, Durham Police and Duke Energy.

There were no injuries reported in this fire and the Red Cross is assisting the one occupant that was displaced.
