A judge determined a Durham mother accused of killing her 3-year-old son and trying to kill her 2-year-old son is incapable to proceed.
Andrea Faust, 41, is charged with murder and attempted murder.

“It is evident that she is a danger to herself and requires immediate and intensive psychiatric attention,” a court document states. “Further evaluation is also necessary in order to determine her capacity to proceed.”
The document states that authorities plan to take Faust to Central Regional Hospital in Butner for temporary custody, examination and treatment.

The court document shows Faust attempted suicide twice in February.
The document also states Faust was trying to hoard Tylenol on Monday while in North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, claiming it was for a future suicide attempt.
Faust’s attempted suicide resulted in “multiple bone and spine fractures – requiring surgery,” according to the document.
