U.S. Highway 501 in Roxboro is expected to be closed for several days for an emergency water main repair.
The break happened around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, closing U.S. 501 between Weeks Drive and Old Durham Road.

Crews said drivers should expect major traffic delays and should take detours.
Commercial trucks needing access to U.S. 501 North past Weeks Drive will need to use the following detour:
- From U.S. 501 North, turn left on Patterson Drive
- Continue straight at the 4-way stop onto Wrenn Crumpton Road
- Follow to N.C. 49, turn right on N.C. 49 (Burlington Road)
For local traffic, drivers should consider the following detours:
- Restaurants and businesses at Garret Street/Old Durham Road remain accessible
- Walmart remains accessible only from the Garrett Street side of Durham Road
- No traffic is allowed southbound past the stoplight at Walmart
- Durham Road northbound remains accessible all the way to Weeks Drive.
- Golden Corral and businesses on Weeks Drive remain open
Officials have not yet said when the road should reopen.
