A head-on crash left one person dead and another critically injured in Johnston County.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said a car drove left-of-center on McLemore Road around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday. The two vehicles collided on the driver's side, leaving each car seriously damaged and on the side of the road.

One driver, Patricia Ann Mailile, died in the crash. She was 79 years old.
The other driver, Jennifer Cameron, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and driving left of center. Cameron was taken to WakeMed Hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
