Durham man charged with murder of roommate in early morning shooting, deputies say

Durham County deputies are investigating a deadly shooting of a Durham man that happened early Monday morning.

The Durham County Sheriff's Office said 54-year-old John Tyler died after deputies responded to a shooting call after 5 a.m. Monday to a home on Ardsley Drive. 

Deputies arrested 50-year-old Joseph Stevens and charged him with first-degree murder. He is being held at the Durham County Detention Facility.

DCSO said both men lived together at the home. According to the sheriff's office, Stevens admitted to shooting Tyler. 

Tyler's body was found inside the home, according to the sheriff's office.
