Saturday marked one year since 7-year-old Zion Gibbs was killed while playing video games in his home. Gibbs was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting.
Family and friends gathered at Festival Park in Fayetteville to remember him. Gibbs’ mother, Myra Gibbs, said the big message for the day was gun safety.

“Zion was a loving kid. He was loving, and he loved people, and he loved to dance to music,” Gibbs said. “We need to get the community out more doing things like this and engaging to try and show the kids that there's a better way.”
Two people were indicted last month in Zion's murder.
20-year-old Antori Porter and 19-year-old Sierra Chambers were both indicted on first degree murder and felony conspiracy to discharge a weapon into occupied property charges.
Chambers was also indicted for accessory after the fact, first-degree murder. She is expected back in court on July 1. Porter's next hearing is set for July 9.
