FBI agents were in Nash County again on Tuesday, working to solve a decades-old missing person’s case.
Agents teamed up with deputies to dredge a creek in Middlesex where Travis Lamont Lynch’s car was found last week.

Authorities said Lynch disappeared in 2003 on Christmas Eve, and he was last seen leaving his girlfriend's house in the early hours of the morning.
Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said this is the next step in bringing closure to his family.
“Losing a loved one’s bad, but losing one and never knowing what happened is even worse," he said.
Sheriff Stone said the FBI is searching for any information that could help solve the long-unsolved case. That includes removing and examining every object on the creek bed.
“You’ve got to pick up every obstacle on the bottom of that creek, from wood to anything, a beer bottle, and anything else, and you’ve got to sift through everything," he said.
Sheriff Stone said it's a challenging process, navigating tough sediment and cold temperatures.
Despite the difficulties, Stone said the effort is worth it if it brings closure to Lynch’s family, who have spent decades searching for answers.
"I'm very optimistic. We [already have] more answers now than we did two weeks ago," he said.
While FBI agents continue their search in the creek, investigators are also working behind the scenes. Deputies are conducting interviews, and the Highway Patrol is reconstructing Lynch’s car.
