Raleigh firefighters said they were at the fire and provided water for the fire. The North Carolina Forestry Service and the facility's owner are both out their with equipment to move the mulch around to keep it under control.
Firefighters didn't know what set off the fire, but guess that dry weather and the mulch being "hot inside the piles" made a "spontaneous combustion" fire.
Firefighters said the fire is under control no buildings have been damaged and no roads are closed.
