Four boaters and a dog were rescued Monday afternoon near the Lockwoods Folly Inlet after their boat capsized, according to the Town of Oak Island.
The town said multiple agencies were dispatched at 2:06 p.m.. The found two boaters in the water, with two other boaters and a dog safely picked up by a passing civilian boat.

Oak Island officials said the two boaters still in the water were rescued with the help of the Town's new Mobile Drone Control Unit. Oak Island Water Rescue crews made contact with the civilian boat and retrieved the two other boaters and dog.
The boaters were evaluated and treated for minor injuries by Brunswick County EMS.
The Town of Oak Island said the boat, a 19' Carolina Skiff, is still lodged in the sandbar area of the Lockwoods Folly Inlet. They asked boaters to avoid the area, and said beachgoers should not interact with or touch the boat in any way.
