A Fuquay-Varina mother accused of withholding medical care from her 12-year-old son, causing his death, has been indicted by a grand jury.

Holly Wren, 53, faces charges of second-degree murder and intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.

According to the indictment, Wren is accused of killing her son, Jacob, in March 2025.

The document states that Wren failed to seek medical attention for Jacob, who had diabetes, causing his death.

An online obituary for Jacob reads, "Shy, loving, and happy, Jacob loved to tease and play jokes on his family. He had a special bond with his two dogs and his cat, whom he adored."

Wren is scheduled to appear in Wake County court on July 6.
