The Town of Garner held a remembrance ceremony Friday morning to honor the victims and heroes of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The ceremony was held at 9:45 a.m. at the Garner Recreation Center, where community members gathered to remember those who lost their lives and those who responded in the aftermath of the attacks.

Mayor Buddy Gupton, Fire Chief Barrett Penny and Police Chief Chris Adams were among those who spoke during the ceremony.

Two Garner residents also shared their experiences, one who survived the attack at the World Trade Center and another who took part in recovery efforts following the attacks.

The remembrance comes 25 years after the Sept. 11 attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
