Authorities arrested a Goldsboro fugitive on Monday after he evaded law enforcement for more than a year on federal charges.
Police initially arrested Daktari Harris the night of Jan. 11, 2025. Police said officers knew Harris was a convicted felon and saw him in possession of a gun on South Hollowell Street near East Spruce Street. Police arrested Harris after a foot chase and recovered the gun.

After Harris’ arrest, federal partners with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) presented the case to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina, where a federal indictment for the crime was issued. Authorities had released Harris on bond for the related state charges prior to the federal indictment.
Around 6:30 a.m. Monday, several law enforcement agencies took Harris into custody after a brief standoff on Franklin Road near Bostic Road in Raeford.
During the arrest, authorities found Harris in possession of six additional firearms, two of which were modified to be fully automatic.
Harris is charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of possession of weapons of mass destruction.
