A man is dead Sunday after a barricade situation in Knightdale.
WRAL News was on the scene in the Planter's Walk neighborhood on Laurens Way between Lynnwood Road and Wide Waters Parkway.

Around 9 a.m., this situation began to unfold. Two medics arrived to the scene first, then one ambulance were cleared from the scene.
According to the Knightdale Police Department, officers were called to perform a welfare check on someone they said was "suicidal." When officers arrived, the man ran into the home.
Officers and Wake County deputies, along with negotiators and special response teams were also at the home. Officers entered the home after several hours of no response from the man inside.
Police told WRAL News they found the man dead from an apparent suicide when the entered the home.
“Barricaded subjects present unique response challenges for law enforcement,” said Knightdale Police Chief Lawrence Capps. “There is always a strong desire to help the person and bring a peaceful end to the encounter. But such events can evolve rapidly, and they are often complicated by the presence of weapons and the distraught mental state of those involved. Obviously, we had hoped for a different outcome."
Police said they evacuated several homes and closed the roadways as a precautionary measure
Knightdale police said crime scene technicians and investigators through the afternoon and said they would have no further updates.
