Hoke County Sheriff's Office captured two inmates from their detention center an hour after they escaped Wednesday morning, prompting nearby schools to be placed on lockdown.
In a post on Facebook, the office shared that around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, two inmates were discovered missing while out on recreation.

Officials discovered that 33-year-old Jonathan Oxendine and 27-year-old Charles Locklear allegedly placed a sheet over the barbed wire fence in the recreation area at the Hoke County Detention Center.
While officials were searching for the two, nearby Hoke County High School, Upchurch Elementary School and J.W. McLauchlin Elementary School were placed on lockdown to ensure the schools' safety.
The lockdown was lifted around noon Wednesday as deputies were able to quickly find and detain the two inmates.
Authorities took the men to the Hoke County Detention Center and later to First Health Hoke for medical evaluation and treatment of minor injuries sustained during the escape.
Locklear is charged with felony escape from a local jail, felony conspiracy and felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises. He received a $150,000 secured bond.
Oxendine is charged with felony escape from a local jail and felony conspiracy. He received a $125,000 secured bond.
