A man has been arrested after an hours-long standoff in Durham.

Officers were called around 11 p.m. on Friday to Culloden Circle to assist Chapel Hill police in searching for a suspect involved in an earlier incident in Chapel Hill. According to police, when officers arrived at the home, the suspect refused to come out of the house.

Police later identified the man as 31-year-old Brandon Stephens. After several hours, Durham police said he was taken into custody at 2:04 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Stephens is charged with three counts of false imprisonment in connection to the stand off. He was also served with an outstanding warrant for second degree kidnapping from a previous incident that happened in September, and warrants related to the Chapel Hill incident.

Court documents state Stephens led officers on a chase down Franklin Street in Chapel HIll, damaging multiple vehicles, before getting into a standoff with police.

Authorities released Stephens after he posted bond.
