House damaged in fire on Sugarberry Lane in Clayton, no injuries reported

A house fire Tuesday on Sugarberry Lane in Clayton damaged the second story of a home, according to the Clayton Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched around 12:22 p.m. to 293 Sugarberry Lane, near N.C. Highway 42 East. The Clayton Fire Department was assisted by North Side Fire and Rescue and the Wilson’s Mills Fire Department.

Sky 5 flew over the scene as crews worked to extinguish the fire. Aerial video showed damage to the home.

The fire was brought under control within about 20 minutes of the initial dispatch. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
