House struck by lightning, catches fire in Willow Spring

Lightning struck a home in Willow Spring on Thursday afternoon as severe storms moved through the area.

It happened in the 1600 block of Kendall Hill Road. The Fuquay-Varina Fire Department responded.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker arrived as crews worked to patch the roof of the home.

The Fuquay-Varina fire chief said someone was home at the time. He said the person tried to put the flames out with water, but that effort caused the flames to grow.
