Issiah Ross retrial in Lyric Woods death set for June 2027

Issiah Ross will be retried on a murder charge in the death of Lyric Woods next summer.

Orange County District Attorney Jeff Nieman told WRAL News the trial will begin June 7, 2027, in Orange County Court.

Ross also has a court date scheduled for Dec. 15, 2026.

In January, Ross was found guilty of second-degree murder in Devin Clark's death. The judge, prosecution and defense agreed to a mistrial in Woods' death. Ross was sentenced to a minimum of 240 months (20 years) and a maximum of 300 months (25 years), in addition to a psychological evaluation.

Woods and Clark were found along an ATV path in Orange County in September 2022.
