A large home was destroyed by fire on Wednesday afternoon on Elevation Road in Johnston County.
The granddaughter of the homeowners told WRAL News that two people were home when the fire started, and that the house was engulfed in flames quickly. Both people were able to escape without injury, the house appeared to be a total loss.

Christina Howard, daughter-in-law of Roy Lee and Brenda Matthews, started a GoFundMe for the couple to "buy necessary items and help them get back on their feet."
Multiple fire departments responded to put out the flames. Firefighters alternated work with hoses and ladders in an attempt to bring the fire under control.
Sky 5 video showed extensive damage to the roof and walls, with skeletal, charred wooden pillars the only thing left of some parts of the home.
