A freshman at North Carolina State University is accused of strangling his roommate and knocking out several of his teeth during a fight.
Miles Zander Seppelt, 18, appeared before a Wake County judge Wednesday afternoon on charges of assault by strangulation and assault inflicting serious bodily injury.

In a statement, NC State said campus police responded to Carroll Residence Hall around 11:42 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of an assault. Officers found an injured male student, who was taken by Wake EMS to a local hospital for treatment.
During the hearing, the judge described the alleged attack as a violent offense and set Seppelt’s bond at $15,000 secured.
An attorney retained to represent Seppelt at the initial appearance told the court that Seppelt is a freshman at NC State studying economics and is a member of the Air Force ROTC.
Social media posts from Village Christian Academy in Fayetteville indicate that Seppelt and the alleged victim both attended the high school and graduated in the spring.
Seppelt's attorney said the charges stem from a fight between the two men.
The judge ordered Seppelt to have no contact with the victim. He was being held at the Wake County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 30 at 9 a.m.
