A person is dead after a crash in Johnston County on Saturday.
Troopers said Brindle Wood Goodwin, 74, died after crashing into a tree along N.C. Highway 96. The crash happened around 1:05 p.m. near Godwin Lake Road.

Troopers said Goodwin was driving south and crossed the centerline, traveled left off the road and hit a tree. She died on the scene.
Before the crash, troopers said a person reported Goodwin for driving recklessly. The caller said the car was “all over the roadway,” according to troopers. Goodwin was not wearing a seatbelt.
Troopers do not believe speed and alcohol were involved in the crash. Troopers said a medical condition cannot be ruled out, and toxicology results are still pending.
N.C. 96 near Godwin Lake Road was closed for about two hours but it has since reopened.
