The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office identified a man found dead in the woods near Conetoe and are investigating his death as a homicide.
Workers found the man on Tuesday morning.

Deputies identified the man as Kenneth Wooten, who was a Pinetops native.
Anyone who knew of Wooten’s whereabouts over the last two days is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 252-801-3181.
The investigation is ongoing.
