Goldsboro man killed in apparent hit-and-run on US 70, police asking for help to find suspect

Police are asking for the public's help to identify and find a suspect accused of hitting and killing a Goldsboro man with a vehicle on U.S. 70.

Ernest Lee Martin died after being hit near the 800 block of U.S. 70 sometime in the evening and overnight hours of Thursday and early Friday, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.

Police said they responded around 9:40 a.m. Friday to a report of an unresponsive person on the highway median. When first responders arrived, they said it appeared he had been hit by a vehicle. 

"The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid or notify authorities," police said. 

Emergency responders said they tried to render aid to Martin. He died from his injuries and was pronounced dead, police said.
