NEWPORT, N.C. (WITN) - A Florida man is walking across America to raise awareness about mental health and honor those who have died by suicide and addiction.
Kyndal Edwards told WITN that the idea for the walk took shape while he was serving his last prison sentence. He has been drug-free for over seven years and has been to the county jail 11 times and prison twice.

“I have overdosed, I’ve been to county jail 11 times, and in prison twice. Now I’m over seven years drug-free, with over 10,700 miles walked to tell people that they matter, and to spread light, love, kindness, and positivity everywhere I go,” Edwards said.
The journey is a fundraiser for Never Alone Recovery, a nonprofit that supports people with addiction and mental health challenges.
