A Chapel Hill man was arrested last week by Chatham County deputies for alleged child sex abuse crimes.
According to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, on Tuesday, Oct. 28, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. This tip prompted a joint investigation between SBI and CCSO.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for a home on Manns Chapel Road in Chapel Hill. During the search, images of child sex abuse material were found.
CCSO identified the listed homeowner and suspect as 38-year-old Matthew Ryan Brasington. According to arrest warrants, he willfully took indecent liberties with a minor younger than 16-years-old. He also allegedly took and exchanged photos and videos through the messaging app KIK to and from this minor.
CCSO charged Brasington with three counts of 1st degree sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of crimes against nature and one count of indecent liberties with a minor. In a media release, deputies added that additional charges are expected.
Court records also showed that Brasington was charged with three felony counts of indecent liberties with a child and six felony counts of employing and permitting a minor in an offense.
He was taken to Chatham County Detention Center. After his first court appearance on Friday, Brasington was given a $375,000 bond. Court records show that he is scheduled to be in court again on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
