A new threat circulating on social media and through text messages is prompting an increased security presence on Thursday at Millbrook Magnet High School.
The threat comes a day after a student, Malcolm McIntyre, was arrested on school grounds and charged with carrying a weapon on campus.

An email from Principal Brian Saunders sent to parents Thursday morning reads:
All students are safe. To keep you informed, I wanted to share that we are aware of the report of a threat toward our school circulating in text messages and on social media.We take any and all potential threats to our school seriously. As soon as we were made aware of these reports, we contacted WCPSS Security and law enforcement. They are investigating to evaluate the credibility of the threat. Out of an abundance of caution we will have additional security personnel present on our campus today.
It was unclear if the threat is related to Wednesday's arrest, which put Millbrook Magnet High School in a temporary lockdown. By 1 p.m., the lockdown moved to Code Green.
McIntyre, a senior, played on the Millbrook football team. The 18-year-old faces a felony charge for carrying a gun on an educational property, and several misdemeanors, including carrying a concealed gun, resisting a public officer and disorderly conduct at school.
Under state law, any student who brings a firearm on campus faces a 365-day suspension. Criminal charges are also possible.
