Andy Vinson West, 58, was reported missing on Jan. 22 after his family said they last saw him on the evening of Jan.21 at his residence on High House Road in Sampson County.
The Sampson County Sheriff's Office said search efforts continued over multiple days. Inclement weather hindered search efforts.

On Jan. 25, deputies found West dead in a wooded area within the search radius. The cause of death appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and foul play is not suspected, according to the SCSO.
