A track and field athlete at North Carolina Central University has been charged with rape.
Alan Webster III, 19, is charged with one felony count of second-degree forcible rape. According to court documents, the incident happened Jan. 13.

An arrest warrant was issued on April 8, and Webster turned himself into police voluntarily on Wednesday.
Webster, of Fuquay-Varina, is a sophomore at NCCU.
During a court appearance on Thursday, Webster's defense attorney told the court that Webster and the victim knew each other, and that the encounter was consensual. He cited text messages that need to be reviewed by the district attorney.
Webster was given a bond of $300,000, ordered to stay away from the victim and was placed under house arrest.
North Carolina Central University said Webster is no longer a member of the track and field team as of Jan. 19.
